Safe Berks, Lonnie Walker IV Foundation team up for raffle

Safe Berks and The Lonnie Walker IV Foundation are teaming up to offer an exciting opportunity to meet Lonnie, a Los Angeles Laker, when he plays the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 9 in Philly.

Lonnie, a hometown hero and local basketball legend, led the Reading High School Red Knights to their first state championship in 2017, next played for the University of Miami, was drafted in 2018 to play in the NBA for the San Antonio Spurs, and is now continuing his amazing journey with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lonnie Walker IV Foundation, founded by Lonnie in 2019, strives to positively impact individuals and families by investing time and financial resources in communities, including but not limited to, Lonnie’s hometown of Reading, PA.

“Lonnie Walker IV always has the people of Reading and Berks County in his heart,” said Cory Washington, of The Lonnie Walker IV Foundation. “Lonnie grew up in Reading, and this is his home. He is dedicated to trying to help people who live here. By working with Safe Berks, Lonnie and his Foundation can help provide free services to local survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.”

Safe Berks provides a safe haven and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through education, advocacy and a relentless commitment to prevent abuse. Safe Berks services include shelter, a 24-hour Hotline and text line, counseling, legal services, community outreach and response, medical advocacy, and education. Safe Berks services are free, confidential, and provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services are available in all languages. “Lonnie’s powerful message that we can all live our dream if we work hard and never give up is so inspiring,” said Beth Garrigan, Safe Berks CEO. “Safe Berks is honored to be working with him and his foundation to provide this amazing opportunity to a very lucky fan and look forward to future partnering initiatives that will positively impact youth in our community.”

The raffle winner will receive two tickets to the game including meet and greet passes to meet Lonnie, dinner for two at Cheers American Bistro and overnight accommodations including breakfast compliments of The DoubleTree by Hilton Reading, and car service to and from the game courtesy of Rhoads Limousine.

Raffle tickets cost $20 each and can be purchased online at: SafeBerks.org/LonnieTix. The winner will be chosen LIVE on Dec. 1.
