“During the winter months, the need for emergency shelter increases. With the addition of Eckert House and Pottstown shelter, we are expanding our services to help more people who are experiencing homelessness,” said Modesto Fiume, President of Opportunity House. Fundraising events like Souper Bowl provide the necessary funding to support Opportunity House’s mission.

Guests sample a diverse array of soups from nearly 30 restaurants in Berks County and choose a unique pottery bowl created by students from local school districts, including Twin Valley, Oley Valley, Hamburg, Schuylkill Valley, Kutztown HS, Kutztown University, Muhlenberg, Wilson, and Exeter. Organizations like Goggleworks, Clay on Main, and Linden Hall also donated bowls. The Silent Auction features handcrafted bowls by local artists, providing attendees with the opportunity to take home a piece by Berks County artistry. The evening ends with the crowning of the People Choice Award winner and the Chef’s Choice Award. The 2024 winner was Inn at Centre Park.
