On Thursday, July 11, 2024, the Womelsdorf Swimming Pool was filled with joy and celebration as community members gathered for the dedication of a new Splash Pad in honor of Davy Craft, a courageous 12-year-old boy born with the rare Baraitser-Winter syndrome.
The all-abilities splash pad project was made possible through a collaborative effort involving the IM ABLE Foundation and Make-A-Wish, along with the unwavering support of Davy’s family and over 300 generous donors. Together, they raised over $155,000 over two years to bring this project to fruition.
The dedication ceremony was a heartfelt occasion, attended by members of the community and dignitaries including Pastor Tim Sanger of Community Evangelical Church in Sinking Spring, Bruce A. Edwards, Womelsdorf Borough Council President, Alex A. Pilkington, CEO of IM ABLE Foundation, Brenda Meyers, Make-A-Wish Volunteer Wish Coordinator, Dante Santoni, Jr., Berks County Commissioner, and Amanda Craft, Davy’s mother.

“This splash pad is more than just a recreational facility; it’s a symbol of community unity and inclusivity,” remarked Alex A. Pilkington during his address. “It represents what can be achieved when individuals and organizations come together to support a noble cause.”
Davy’s mother, Amanda Craft, expressed her gratitude to everyone involved, saying, “Seeing Davy’s joy today fills our hearts with immense happiness. This splash pad will bring joy to countless children for years to come.”
The IM ABLE Foundation, known for its commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities through active lifestyles, played a pivotal role in providing resources and guidance throughout the project’s development.
The dedication ceremony concluded with Davy and other children inaugurating the splash pad with the first splash, surrounded by cheers and applause from the attendees.
