The annual Pagoda Hillclimb will return to Reading on June 20 and 21, drawing racers from across the East Coast to compete on the historic Duryea Drive course overlooking the city.
Hosted by the Blue Mountain Region of the Sports Car Club of America, the event is part of both the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association Championship Series and the Eastern States Hillclimb Championship Series. Drivers from several states, ranging from New England to Florida, are registered to participate.
The 1.35-mile course begins at the intersection of Duryea Drive and 13th Street Extension and climbs the winding roadway to a finish line located just below the Pagoda.
Competition runs are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. Saturday and continue until about 4 p.m. Racing resumes Sunday at approximately 9 a.m. and is expected to conclude around 4 p.m.
Spectators are welcome to attend. Admission is by voluntary donation, with proceeds benefiting Pagoda-Skyline, Inc..
A shuttle bus will operate throughout both days, transporting spectators between designated viewing areas along the course. Shuttle ridership is also by voluntary donation, with proceeds supporting the Reading Recreation Commission.
The Pagoda Hillclimb is one of the longest-running motorsports traditions in the region, attracting drivers and racing enthusiasts to Reading each year for a weekend of timed competition on the city’s iconic mountain roadway.
