In a mid-week match against Cedar Stars Rush, Reading United defeated the Bergen County, New Jersey based team 3-2, at Gurski Stadium Wednesday night.
Wednesday night’s game celebrated ‘Throwback Night’, honoring 24 years of soccer in Reading, including warm-up kits honoring the Reading Rage years. The pre-game ceremony also featured a music playlist from the 90’s/00’s, and first kick by Dan Winkler, Manager of Manufacture Service for East Penn Manufacturing.
“This is exciting, my son plays on the Deka soccer camp that Reading United is putting on, so it’s a great opportunity for the kids to participate in that.” said Winkler. “We love coming here, we love watching the games!”
The first half of the game showcased quick action with Reading scoring 2 goals within the first 6 minutes of the game, and a second soon after. The first half finished 3-1 Reading.
Although Reading pushed ahead the second half of the game, it was slow going. Cedar managed score again in the second half with a goal in the 68th minute of play.
Goals scored in Wednesday’s game for Reading: Max Galizzi, Felipe Hideki, and Bakery Bagayoko. Cedar Stars Rush: Sebastian Varela and Josue Espana.
Reading United will be back to wrap up the 2019 regular season on Sunday, July 14th, against Lehigh Valley United.
