Reading Hospital Magnet Champions have partnered with the United Way to coordinate the 2022 Stuff the Bus – Adopt a Classroom campaign for Reading School District.
More than 100 hospital departments adopted a total of 120 classrooms in Glenside Elementary, Millmont Elementary, and Tyson-Schoener Elementary, along with all 27 Reading Area School District Nurses.
Team members at Reading Hospital assemble “dream boxes” for each classroom, consisting of supplies teachers and school nurses frequently purchase on their own to support student learning and health.
On Friday, a Reading Hospital shuttle bus, a bus from BCIU, and Reading School District trucks hit the road to visit all participating sites, including outpatient offices and the hospital, to pick up donated Dream Boxes.
“This event is a favorite of our employees and the Magnet Champion team,” said Barbara Romig, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer at Reading Hospital.
“We are proud to support the students and teachers at Reading School District as they prepare for a new school year. I sincerely thank the Magnet Champion team for their efforts organizing this event and all the team members who generously donated items to make this year’s event a success.”
Dr. Jennifer Murray, Superintendent added, “The Reading School District is grateful to the staff at Reading Hospital and the United Way of Berks County for coming together to support our students and educators for a successful new school year.”
