The annual celebration that brings together the Governor Mifflin community is gearing up for its biggest year yet. The Greater Governor Mifflin League (GGML) Community Days is extending its festivities from six to nine days. From June 28th to July 6th, residents and visitors alike can enjoy a plethora of activities, games, rides, and culinary delights on the campus of Governor Mifflin Intermediate School.
This expansion comes after the overwhelming success of last year’s event. The festival’s new permanent location at 600 Governor Drive, Shillington, PA 19607, just blocks away from its previous spot at Governor Mifflin Senior High School, promises an even more vibrant atmosphere.
In anticipation of the grand affair, the GGML has partnered with Shillington Social Quarters and Anjoli Productions to organize two special fundraiser events. These events, scheduled for March 2nd and March 30th at The Shillington Social Quarters, aim to bolster funds for this year’s Community Days.
The first fundraiser, set for March 2nd, will feature Shillington’s very own “The Uptown Band,” treating attendees to an evening of lively entertainment from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Tickets are priced at $20.00 in advance or $25.00 at the door and can be purchased on theuptownband.com.
On March 30th, the second fundraiser promises a double dose of musical tribute acts. Essential Elvis-Tribute Artist Jeff Krick, Jr., and Maryland-based Blue Angel Tribute to Roy Orbison by Terry Harris will kick off the evening, followed by dancing to the tunes of Erich Cawalla & Friends from The Uptown Band. Like the first event, tickets are available for $20.00 ahead of time or $25.00 at the door via erichcawalla.com.
Since its inception in 1976, the GGML has remained steadfast in its commitment to give back to the community. Proceeds from the Community Days festival support various local initiatives, including contributions to fire companies, ambulance associations, scout troops, school projects, community endeavors, and scholarships. Over the years, the GGML has contributed over $500,000 to the Governor Mifflin community.
As the countdown begins for the 48th annual Community Days, excitement is building, promising a week-long extravaganza filled with fun, entertainment, and goodwill for all who attend.
