PennDOT District 5 has announced several road maintenance projects in Berks County, scheduled to take place from January 27 through January 31, 2025. The work, primarily focused on brush cutting and other maintenance activities, will involve lane and shoulder restrictions during daytime hours. Motorists should prepare for delays and drive cautiously through the affected areas.
In Windsor and Perry Townships, brush cutting will take place along Windsor Castle Road between South 4th Street and PA 662. This project will result in lane restrictions with flagging between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily. Rain may cause delays in the project timeline.
Another brush cutting project is planned for Interstate 78 in Windsor and Tilden Townships, affecting the area between Exit 30 (Hamburg) and Exit 35 (PA 143). This work will restrict the westbound shoulder from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. As with other projects, inclement weather could result in delays.
In Heidelberg Township, brush cutting will be performed along US 422 between the Lebanon County Line and Bernville Road. This work will result in lane restrictions during the same daytime hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the potential for weather-related interruptions.
Additionally, maintenance work will occur on Hill Road in Heidelberg Township, between Furnace Street and US 422. This project will require lane restrictions with flagging during daytime hours. Like the other projects, this work is subject to potential delays caused by rain.
PennDOT urges drivers to plan for possible delays and consider alternate routes when traveling in these areas. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution and remain alert while driving through work zones to ensure the safety of both workers and the traveling public.
