Mask mandate on BARTA buses extended through March 2022

Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority buses will continue to have “No Mask, No Ride” flashing across the front of its buses as the Federal Transit Administration recently extended the Mask Mandate date from January 18, 2022 to March 18, 2022.

The extension of the face mask requirement includes all transportation networks, including public transportation, for persons either using public transit or at public transit facilities.

The Mask Mandate is required for BARTA to follow based on the funding BARTA receives from FTA, which helps pay for local public transit.

The initial face mask requirement went into effect on February 1, 2021, with an initial expiration date of May 11, 2021. It was first extended through September 13, 2021, and then to January 18, 2022.
