The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has released a detailed schedule of upcoming roadwork projects across Berks County for the week of April 7, 2025. Drivers are urged to plan for delays, observe posted signage, and use extra caution when traveling through active work zones.
Construction is scheduled on Interstate 78 between Exit 29 (PA 61) and Exit 30 (Hamburg) during nighttime hours on April 9 and April 10. Lane restrictions will be in place in both directions from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., though rain is not expected to delay the work.
In Robeson and Union Townships, utility trench restoration work will be performed on Hay Creek Road between Chapel Road and Cold Run Road. Lane restrictions will be in place from April 7 through April 11 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Delays are expected, and rain may cause schedule changes.
In the City of Reading, US 422 will be reduced to a single lane between Penn Avenue and US 222 for daytime maintenance from April 7 to April 11. The lane closure will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and rain may affect the timeline.
Paving work continues in Bern Township along PA 183 between Plum Creek Road and North Heidelberg Road. Lane restrictions with flagging will be in place from April 7 through April 11, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Delays are expected, and the work is weather-dependent.
Brush cutting is scheduled along Interstate 78 between Exit 30 (Hamburg) and Exit 35 (PA 143) in Tilden and Windsor Townships. While no restrictions will be in place, motorists should expect delays from April 7 through April 10 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Also in Tilden and Windsor Townships, northbound traffic on PA 61 will face lane restrictions on April 11 for brush cutting between the Schuylkill County Line and Lowland Road. The work will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.
In Richmond Township, lane restrictions with flagging will be in effect on Crystal Ridge Road between Crystal Cave Road and PA 143 on April 7. Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and rain may cause delays.
Maxatawny Township will see work on Eagle Point Road between Long Lane Road and Hottenstein Road on April 8. Lane restrictions with flagging will be in effect between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
In Albany Township, Stony Valley Run Road will be restricted between PA 143 and Kempton Road on April 9. Flagging will be in place between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with possible rain delays.
Greenwich Township will experience work on PA 143 between I-78 and US 222 on April 10, and on PA 737/Krumsville Road on April 11. While no restrictions are planned, delays are possible both days between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
In Exeter, Amity, and Union Townships, US 422 will be restricted between W 47th Street and the Stowe exit on April 7 and April 8 for maintenance. Work will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with potential rain delays.
Interstate 176 in Cumru Township will have a daytime lane restriction on April 9 between Exit 11 (US 422) and Exit 2 (PA 10). The work is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In Brecknock Township, PA 568 between PA 10 and PA 625 will have flagging and lane restrictions from April 10 to April 11. Hours of work are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.
Additional work will take place on PA 625 between US 222 and the Lancaster County Line in Cumru and Brecknock Townships. Lane restrictions with flagging will be in effect April 10 and April 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Muhlenberg Township will see ongoing work along US 222 between PA 61 and Stoudts Ferry Bridge Road. On April 7 and April 8, no lane restrictions will be in place, but delays are expected. On April 9 and 10, southbound lane restrictions will be in effect. Work continues April 11 with no restrictions but continued delays likely.
Finally, in Sinking Spring Borough, PA 724 will have lane restrictions with flagging on April 10 between James Street and US 422. The work will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and is not expected to be impacted by rain.
