PennDOT has announced several road work projects that will bring lane restrictions and possible delays to motorists traveling through Berks County over the next two weeks.
PennDOT maintenance crews will conduct shoulder work and widening along Route 222 in Richmond and Maxatawny townships and Kutztown Borough, between Route 662 and the Lehigh County line, from Monday, Aug. 17, through Friday, Aug. 21. Daytime lane restrictions will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays and use caution through the work zone. Rain may cause delays to the work schedule.
PennDOT maintenance crews will perform crack sealing along Route 61 at various locations between Route 222 and Interstate 78 from Monday, Aug. 17, through Friday, Aug. 21. Nighttime lane restrictions with flagging will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Motorists should expect delays and use caution through the work zones. Rain may cause delays to the work schedule.

A PennDOT contractor will conduct work along Interstate 78 in Weisenberg and Greenwich townships, between Exit 45 at Route 863 and Exit 40 at Route 737, from Tuesday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 27. Lane restrictions will be in effect in both directions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Rain is not expected to delay the work.
