State Police, Exeter Police Conduct Aggressive Driving Enforcement

Pennsylvania State Police and Exeter Police Department conducted a joint aggressive driving enforcement detail Wednesday morning on 422 in Exeter Township. The coordinated enforcement day is part of a statewide wave that runs through August 23.

On Wednesday morning in Exeter Township, officials say 35 vehicles were cited on 422 during the joint aggressive driving enforcement detail.

Police were on the look out for motorists exhibiting aggressive driving behaviors, such as speeding, red light running, Steer Clear violations, tailgating, and heavy truck violations.

Over 215 municipal police departments and the Pennsylvania State Police will participate in this enforcement effort on roadways statewide.

NHTSA defines aggressive-driving crashes as those with at least two identified aggressive-driving behaviors included in the crash.

In the past 10 years, the highest number of speed-related crashes statewide occurred in 2013, with 33,753. Speeding related crashes have increased between 2017 (31,0009) and 2018 (32,634). Speed related fatalities have decreased 11.1% from 440 in 2017 to 391 in 2018.
