State Police offering child safety seat check-ups in Reading

The Pennsylvania State Police will be hosting free child safety seat check-up events next week in conjunction with their annual ‘click it or ticket’ awareness campaign.

PSP Reading is hosting three event dates at their barracks located at 600 Kenhorst Boulevard. Child safety seat check-up events are set for Thursday, November 18, from 10am to 2pm, Tuesday, November 23, from 2pm to 6pm, and Saturday, November 27, from 10 to 2pm.

At the safety seat check, troopers will explain how to correctly install the seat, correct any errors in installation, and check seats for recalls. The checks are free of charge and not appointment is needed.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A child under 13 years old is involved in a car crash every 33 seconds.
