UPDATE: Milling of the asphalt is scheduled to begin on Sunday, April 28th at 6pm and the entire project should be completed by Saturday, May 4, 2019.
In anticipation of road work, the West Reading Police Department has announced the dates and times for an upcoming repaving project focusing on 5th Avenue and Museum Road.
Paving is scheduled to begin on Sunday April 14th, 2019 and should be completed, weather permitting, by Saturday April 20th, 2019. The work will be done on 5th Avenue, starting at Pine Street and proceed south to the Borough Line at the bridge on Museum Road.
The work will be conducted nightly, from 6pm to 6am during those dates. Residents and visitors should expect traffic delays, in and around the area, and that the 5th Avenue entrance to the Hospital will be affected. Emergency vehicles will have access to the Hospital ER via 5th Ave/Museum Road, but occupants of personal vehicles may experience delays. Alternate routes to the ER entrance via Parkside Drive North during active construction are recommended.
Residents in work zone should be aware there will be lighting and noise associated with the roadwork overnight during this time period, and construction vehicles may be parked on Borough Streets in that immediate area.
Residents with questions are encouraged to contact Borough Hall at 610 374 8273.
