United Way celebrates Blueprint for Leadership and Leadership Berks graduates

United Way’s Blueprint for Leadership and Leadership Berks programs celebrated its graduates at a special event on June 8, 2022 at the DoubleTree in downtown Reading.

The community leadership programs train and develop individuals to serve with local nonprofits. The Blueprint for Leadership program prepares individuals from underrepresented groups to serve with community and nonprofit organizations through a 7-week program, with participants meeting one day each week for instructional learning.

This year’s class celebrated 13 graduates. Leadership Berks is a 9-month curriculum-based program, with participants meeting one day a month, and focuses on leadership essentials and service projects to train and develop individuals to serve in nonprofit leadership roles. The 2022 Leadership Berks Class lauded 20 graduates.

“While today’s graduation signifies the conclusion of this year’s programs and a celebration of the groups’ achievements, it also marks a beginning” said Tammy White, President of United Way.

“Building a stronger community takes a special kind of initiative and strength, and each of you possess the kind of strength and passion needed to lead community change. We are excited to see what your next steps are and how you will put what you learned into action to make a difference and to help lead the work it takes to tackle the vital issues impacting Berks County.”
