Flood Watch issued for Berks County with rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour possible

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Berks County, effective from 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through midnight, due to the potential for excessive rainfall.

Forecasters warn that a combination of a frontal boundary and a tropical airmass will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region Tuesday afternoon and evening. Rainfall rates may reach 2 inches per hour or more, raising the risk for flash flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, and streams, as well as low-lying and poor drainage areas. Urban areas may also be particularly vulnerable to rapid flooding.

Residents in flood-prone locations are advised to closely monitor updated forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action should a Flood Warning be issued or flooding develop.

Stay weather-aware and take precautions to ensure your safety throughout the storm.
