Heavy rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ida slammed Berks Wednesday afternoon dumping more than 5 inches of rain in many parts of the County. Shoppers in the Berkshire Square Shopping Plaza in Wyomissing found themselves in a dangerous situation as a nearly 10 foot wide sinkhole opened up by the State Hill Road entrance.
As the storm progressed into the night, the sinkhole grew larger, spreading further into the parking lot. By Thursday afternoon crews were busy setting up a permanent fence and working to fill in the hole.
