Wyomissing to host Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony Honoring Veterans

The Borough of Wyomissing will hold its Annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony on Saturday, May 24, beginning at 10 a.m., inviting residents to join in a tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

The event begins with a parade through the Wyomissing Hills neighborhood featuring scouts, youth sports teams, community and military organizations, musical performances, and emergency service vehicles. This year’s participants will also include groups honoring veterans of World War II and Vietnam.

Leading the parade as Grand Marshal will be Chris Kaag, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and founder of Corps Fitness and the IM ABLE Foundation. Kaag, who was diagnosed with a rare neurodegenerative condition following a service-related injury, has become a prominent community leader and advocate for individuals of all abilities.

Following the parade, a Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the War Memorial on Valley Road in Wyomissing Hills Memorial Park. The ceremony will include a flag-folding presentation, bagpipe music, a rifle salute, and spoken reflections honoring those who lost their lives in military service.

Additional post-ceremony activities include a concessions stand operated by Boy Scout Troop 413 and balloon art for children provided by the 7th Masonic District of the Pennsylvania Freemasons.

Organizers are encouraging attendees to plan ahead, noting that parking will be limited. There will be no parking available at the Elementary School, which is being used for staging, and the bus lane is designated for drop-off only. Side street parking is recommended.

Residents are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in honor of the holiday. The borough described the event as “a powerful celebration of service, sacrifice, and community,” and an opportunity to ensure that the stories of fallen service members continue to be told for generations to come.
