Virtual Fundraising Banquet for Lifeline of Berks County Raises $114,000

On October 20, Lifeline of Berks County held their annual fundraising banquet. Due to the pandemic, the banquet was virtual this year for the first time in Lifeline’s nearly 50 year history.

Despite the differences, this year’s banquet was still a resounding success–thanks to the generosity of various donors, $114,000 was raised for Lifeline as a result. The 2020 Keynote Speaker for the event was inspirational speaker Gian Paul Gonzalez.

Since its inception in February of 1971, Lifeline has provided a variety of free resources for pregnant women in Berks County, including pregnancy tests, STI testing, and pregnancy confirmation ultrasounds.

Lifeline also has extensive partnerships with various nonprofits across Berks County (such as Mary’s Shelter, Helping Harvest Food Bank, and The Salvation Army), and they provide everything from formula to diapers to new mothers at no cost.

A nonprofit organization, Lifeline employs a staff that includes two licensed RNs, a licensed LPN, and a psychologist.

According to Executive Director Stephanie Giles, a key aspect of Lifeline is the Center’s commitment to a non-judgemental, helpful, and loving approach to everyone who seeks their services.

In addition to the services highlighted above, Lifeline is planning to begin a new educational program for women in the community, which is slated to debut in January 2021.

A variety of 8 classes will be available which will cover a wide variety of important life skills, such as how to plan a budget, how to interview well, and how to set and achieve life goals.

Giles noted that Lifeline’s mission is “…to share Christ’s love with women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Lifeline educates women about their options and provides support and hope, empowering them to choose healthy lifestyles and life-embracing alternatives to abortion”.

Giles continued, “We want to help women [figure out] where they are, where they want to be, and [then] help them navigate that gap.”

Lifeline’s next fundraising banquet is currently scheduled to take place on April 27, 2021.
