Final R-Phils Home Games Cancelled, Season Wrap-Up Party planned for Sunday

The Reading Fightin Phils announced Thursday afternoon that the team’s remaining home games for the 2021 season has been cancelled. The decision was made as the Fightins opponent, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, continue to undergo COVID-19 testing and contract tracing, as part of Minor League Baseball’s health and safety protocol.

The final home series for the R-Phils was scheduled to run September 7-12. Early in the week, the team initially announced that the first two games would need to be postponed. With additional COVID-19 testing and contract tracing needed for the Fisher Cats, the rest of the series was abruptly cancelled.

The season isn’t over for the team. The R-Phils hit the road playing six games against the Rumble Ponies next week.

To celebrate the end of the season, the team will now host a season wrap-up party at FirstEnergy Stadium, Sunday, September 12th from 5:15-7:15pm. Free to attend, no ticket required, fans are encouraged to eat, drink, and say goodbye to the 2021 R-Phils players at America’s Classic Ballpark.

Gates open at 5:15pm. Fans can watch R-Phils players take batting practice from 5:15-6:15pm. The field will be open for anyone who wants to have a catch from 6:30-7:15pm. Finally, fans can watch a special end of season R-Phils player awards presentation where employees will be recognized for their 10+ years of service, while at 6:45pm R-Phils players will be recognized with the annual end of the year accolades.

Classic ballpark food will be available, the Yuengling Hometown Tap Room will be open, and a local band will be performing on stage.

“We thank our fans and partners for their continued support throughout the entire season” said General Manager Scott Hunsicker. “This is a time to gather with your friends and family to cap off an amazing summer here at FirstEnergy Stadium. As the warm weather winds down, capture another memory to get you through those winter months. There is nothing better than grabbing a hot dog, a cold drink, and sitting down with your friends and family to watch America’s pastime being practiced by the Phillies top prospects.”

Those who purchased single game tickets dated for September 7th thru the 12th will be able to exchange their tickets for a game in 2022, or receive a refund. Those fans wishing to exchange their ticket for a 2022 R-Phils game can simply hold on to their ticket, and exchange it at a later time for equivalent seating for any 2022 R-Phils regular season home game, based on availability. This exchange process will begin in late February of 2022. Exchanges of tickets can be done in person, by calling the Reading Fightin Phils office at 610-370-BALL, or emailing info@fightins.com with a replacement game date.
