Lights on Elwyn shines bright for the 38th holiday season, benefiting Animal Rescue League

Ronald and Kerin DeCarlo, along with Tim Gaston, are illuminating the holiday season for the 38th consecutive year with their renowned Lights on Elwyn, a dazzling display of over 30,000 Christmas lights.

Located at 216 Elwyn Avenue in Sinking Spring, PA, the festive showcase debuted on December 2nd and will continue to captivate spectators from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM every night, weather permitting, until December 30th.

What makes Lights on Elwyn truly special is its charitable aspect. The public is not only invited to revel in the festive spectacle for free but is also encouraged to contribute to the cause. Attendees are urged to bring pet food, supplies, and cash donations to support the Animal Rescue League of Berks County. A detailed list of ARL’s needed items can be found at ARL Wishlist.

On December 16th, 2023, representatives from the Cumru Township animal shelter will be present at the display, providing information about the shelter, showcasing adoptable animals, and engaging with visitors.

Homeowner Ronald DeCarlo shared insights into the creation of this spectacular showcase. “It takes about a month and a half to put up. I have a small crew of family and friends that helps.” Ronald expressed his excitement about this year’s display, promising an even grander experience with more lights, new displays, and unique attractions.

Visitors to Lights on Elwyn can also enjoy a personal photo opportunity in a full-size hand-built sleigh. Ronald DeCarlo encourages attendees to park, walk around the property, and explore “Candy Cane Lane” for additional enchantment.

The inspiration behind Lights on Elwyn comes from Ronald’s visits to Christmas light attractions in the region. “I wanted to make something inviting and free for everybody, so we decided to use our backyard as a walk-through display,” he explained. The popularity of the event is evident as DeCarlo recounted, “The last two weeks of December, this place is crazy with people. Sometimes I’ve had buses from Lancaster.”
