Dr. Khalid Mumin appointed to Habitat for Humanity of Berks County Board of Directors

Habitat for Humanity of Berks County has announced the appointment of Dr. Khalid Mumin, Superintendent of the Reading School District, to a five-year term on its Board of Directors.

Dr. Mumin previously served as a valued member of the Habitat Berks Board during his earlier tenure as superintendent, where his insight, leadership, and deep commitment to the Reading community helped strengthen the organization’s mission and impact. His return to the Board reflects both his dedication to the community and Habitat Berks’ continued focus on partnerships that advance neighborhood stability and opportunity for local families.

As superintendent, Dr. Mumin maintains a strong and direct connection to the students, families, and neighborhoods of Reading. His understanding of the challenges facing local families, and the critical role stable housing plays in educational achievement, health outcomes, and long-term success, makes his perspective especially meaningful as Habitat Berks continues to expand its work.

Habitat Berks is currently engaged in an ambitious effort to address blight and increase affordable homeownership opportunities by building and rehabilitating more homes than ever before. Dr. Mumin’s leadership and community-centered approach will help guide the organization as it works to strengthen neighborhoods, support working families, and create pathways to stability and generational progress.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Mumin back to our Board of Directors,” said Timothy J. Daley, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Berks County. “His commitment to Reading’s families and his understanding of the powerful connection between stable housing and educational success make him an invaluable partner as we continue expanding our efforts to revitalize neighborhoods and create new opportunities for homeownership.”
