Genesius Theatre, a beloved institution in the heart of Reading, Pennsylvania, has just announced its highly anticipated 2024 theatre season, and it’s nothing short of spectacular. With an eclectic mix of ten productions, including six musicals, two youth musicals, and two plays, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The Genesius Theatre 2024 season kicks off in mid-February and promises a year-round extravaganza of entertainment, concluding in December 2024. The season boasts a diverse lineup, featuring both large and small productions that showcase the best of Broadway and Off-Broadway.
One of the season’s major highlights is the arrival of Mr. Bill Russell, the Broadway writer/lyricist renowned for his work on the hit musical “SIDE SHOW.” Russell will be at Genesius to direct his Off-Broadway sensation, “UNEXPECTED JOY,” opening at the end of April 2024.
But that’s not all; Genesius has secured two more Broadway successes for the summer season. The Tony Award-winning “KINKY BOOTS,” featuring music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein, will grace the stage, along with “BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL,” celebrating the iconic singer-songwriter’s inspiring journey.
The Genesius Theatre 2024 season offers a range of ticket prices, from $15.00 to $35.00 (note that tickets for 2024 are not currently available on the website).

TICK, TICK, BOOM: Music, Book, and Lyrics by Jonathan Larson. Directed by L J Fecho. Running from February 9 to February 18, with Sunday matinees at 3:00 pm and all other performances at 7:30 pm.
SHREK, JR.: Music by Jeanine Tesori & Book & Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. Directed by Dara Tatarowicz. Performances in March.
BRILLIANT TRACES: By Cindy Lou Johnson. Directed by Gabrielle Lewis. Running from March 29 to April 6, all performances at 7:30 pm.
UNEXPECTED JOY: Directed by Broadway Writer Bill Russell. Book and Lyrics by Bill Russell & Music by Janet Hood. Playing in late April and early May.
KINKY BOOTS: Music and Lyrics by Cyndi Lauper & Book by Harvey Fierstein. Directed by Christopher Sperat. Showcasing in June.
