GRCA announces Candace Nelson as Annual Dinner keynote speaker

The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) announced Friday that Candace Nelson will deliver the keynote address at its 110th Annual Dinner.

Nelson is a successful entrepreneur known for co-founding Sprinkles, the world’s first cupcake bakery and cupcake ATM, and most recently, Pizzana, a fast-growing chain of award-winning Neo-Neapolitan pizzerias.

She served as a judge on more than 100 episodes of the Food Network’s hit show “Cupcake Wars” and as an executive producer and judge on Netflix’s “Sugar Rush.” Next, she brought pizza-obsessed audiences more to chew on when she served as co-creator and producer of Hulu’s “Best in
Dough.”

Nelson will participate in a moderated discussion on the topic “Sweet Success: A simple recipe to turn your passion into profits.” She will walk through the steps she took to build a globally beloved brand, so others can do it too.

Although she is a frosting expert, there will be no sugarcoating it; Nelson will open the kitchen door to reveal mistakes, misses and lessons learned the hard way.

The Dinner will celebrate the Greater Reading business community with the Business Excellence Awards Tuesday, May 23 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Santander Arena, Reading.

The public is invited to join GRCA for its signature event, which provides local business leaders the opportunity to network, entertain guests and clients, and celebrate the achievements of the Greater Reading business community.

The nomination period for the Business Excellence Awards is currently open. All nominations forms are due Friday, March 10. Late submissions will not be accepted. For each award, nominated businesses are ranked according to revenue growth. KPMG LLC will handle tabulating the rankings. All Business Excellence Award winners will be recognized via a video montage tribute with special recognition to the Top 3 in each category at the Annual Dinner.
