Ribbon Cutting held for Café de Colombia in Downtown Reading

A new restaurant has opened in downtown Reading specializing in fresh baked goods and traditional Colombian dishes.

Located in the courtyard area of 645 Penn Street, Café de Colombia held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday morning to celebrate their grand opening with family, friends, and community leaders.

Café de Colombia is a family business, owned by Rubi Valencia and her daughter. Valencia has lived in Reading for over 20 years and say opening the restaurant has been a dream come true.

With a diverse menu, Café de Colombia serves everything from quick bites, breakfast, to traditional food like Cazuelita de Frijoles, a Colombian skillet dish of beans with grilled steak.

“It gives me tremendous pleasure because I know how difficult and challenging it is to open up a business” said District 6 Councilwoman Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz.

“Thank you for helping revitalize our downtown economy, thank you for being able to provide job and opportunities to so many.”

is located in the courtyard of 645 Penn Street and is open Monday through Saturday 7am to 7pm, and Sunday 7am to 3pm.
