Tower Health announces Rohinton Morris, MD, as New Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery

Tower Health has announced that Rohinton Morris, M.D. FACS, a nationally respected cardiac surgeon, will become the system’s Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery this spring.

Currently, Dr. Morris serves as Chief, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, at Jefferson Health, where he is also Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line and Medical Director at the Jefferson School of Perfusion and Extra-Corporeal Technology. Dr. Morris is a member of the Department of Surgery’s Executive Committee, and he is also a Professor of Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine. He will begin with Tower Health on April 15, 2024.

An award-winning physician, Dr. Morris has often been selected as one of Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Doctors and listed as one of the “Top Surgeons in America” by Castle-Connolly. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), a Board Member of the Delaware Valley STS and past President of the Pennsylvania Association of Thoracic Surgery. He is also an active member of several professional organizations, including American Medical Association, Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Philadelphia Academy of Surgeons, and Philadelphia Medical Society. As Director of Cardiac Transplantation at Hahnemann University and the University of Pennsylvania, he previously served as Vice President of the Medical Advisory Board for Gift of Life, a program that Tower Health also supports.

Dr. Morris earned a bachelor’s degree from Juniata College and a medical degree from Hahnemann University. He is currently a Master’s of Public Health (M.P.H.) candidate at George Washington University. A longtime lecturer and professor, his work has been published in more than 70 peer-reviewed publications.
