The search for justice in the tragic homicide case of former NFL player Antonio D. Dennard took a significant step forward yesterday with the apprehension of the accused, Jose Daniel Pizarro, in Brooklyn, New York.
Pizarro, 26, was located and arrested inside an apartment building in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn by members of the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and the New York City Police Department on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at approximately 2 PM.
Following his arrest, Pizarro was transported to the NYPD’s 120th Precinct for processing and currently awaits arraignment. Extradition proceedings have been initiated to return Pizarro to Pennsylvania to face charges related to the homicide of Antonio Dennard, a 32-year-old resident of Reading, PA.

The Muhlenberg Township Police Department was called in the early morning hours of October 16th, 2022 for the report of a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of Legends Bar & Restaurant, located in the 2500 block of N. 5th Street Highway, after the victim arrived at the Reading Hospital emergency room.
Responding officers identified and preserved the evidence located at the scene with assistance from the Berks County Forensics Unit and additional manpower from Berks County Detectives. Unfortunately, Dennard succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.
Through collaborative efforts between Muhlenberg Township Police Department Detectives and Berks County Detectives, Jose Daniel Pizarro, was identified as a suspect for homicide and related charges.
It’s important to note that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and Pizarro is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
