Berks Detectives charge Shillington man with possession of child pornography

The Berks County District Attorney’s office announced Thursday morning they have changed 79-yea-old Joseph A. Dzurkovich of Shillington following an investigation involving the possession of child pornography.

According to Detectives, in January and February of 2023, multiple cyber tips were received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) involving the dissemination of child pornography. These cyber tips involved child pornography file sharing incidents utilizing the internet/web applications Bing and Bing Image.

Berks County Detectives say the targeted (I.P.) address was linked to the defendant.

On February 23, 2023, detectives obtained a search warrant for the defendant’s residence located in the 500 block of State Street in Shillington Borough.

As a result of the search, Detectives say two computers belonging to the defendant were seized. These computers were later forensically analyzed and were found to contain digital images and digital videos of child pornography.

On March 22, 2023, the defendant was charged with Sexual Abuse of Children – Possession of Child Pornography. A warrant of arrest was issued for the defendant.

On Wednesday, March 23, 2023, the defendant surrendered to Berks County Detectives and was transported to the Central Processing Center located at the Berks County Courthouse to be fingerprinted and photographed. He is currently awaiting his preliminary arraignment.

A Criminal Complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
