Berks County Detectives are investigating a Homicide that occurred Monday evening in an Exeter Township home on Hillside Road.

According to Police, on Monday, December 14, 2020, Police received a 911 call around 10:44pm, initially from a man, with the phone passed to a women who reported an “accident” and that a man had a cut to his chest, and was not breathing.

Detectives say Police Officer arrived at the scene shortly after the initial dispatch, entered the residence and was directed to the 2nd floor bathroom.

Upon entering the bathroom, Police located a man who was unresponsive, lying on the bathroom floor. EMS personnel also arrived at the scene and determined the man was deceased.

Investigators describe the victim as a 35 year old male, who suffered a penetrating wound to the left side of his chest.

The Berks County Detectives have partnered with the Exeter Township Police Department and are conducting a joint investigation, which also includes the Berks County District Attorney’s Forensic Services Unit, who also responded to process the crime scene.

The Berks County Coroner’s Office is in the process of notifying the victim’s next of kin. An Autopsy is scheduled for Monday evening at Reading Hospital.

“At this time, we are in the very early stages of this joint investigation and as more information is developed and the investigation progresses, we will provide additional updates” said Detectives Monday morning.

The Berks County District Attorney’s Office states there is no threat or danger to the neighborhood or community, that the investigation thus far confirms that this is an isolated incident.
