Reading Police Seeking Identity of Sexual Assault Suspect

5/25/21 – The Reading Police Department has released three new photos of the suspect in the investigation. The images come from a security camera in the 100 block of Church Street.

5/19/21 – The Reading Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected in sexually assaulting a woman in the 100 block of Church Street in downtown Reading.

Authorities say the incident occurred Wednesday before noon, at approximately 11:45am, May 19, 2021.

According to investigators, officers from the Patrol Division responded to the 100 block of Church Street for an attempted sexual assault.

The victim was walking in the block and went to enter her residence when an unknown male pushed her inside the door.

Police say the male assaulted her inside the residence and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was able to fight off the suspect, who then fled the area on foot.

The victim was then able to call the police for assistance.

Police describe the man as a dark-skinned male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches, 20-30 years old, short “afro style” hair, no facial hair, “dirty face,” and was wearing a black long sleeve shirt and dark pants.

There is no additional information on the suspect at this time.
