City officials and residents celebrated as Xolo Itzcuintle Mexican Restaurant and Sports Bar officially opened its doors Friday afternoon in Northeast Reading.
Xolo Itzcuintle promises to bring a dynamic fusion of Mexican cuisine and a lively sports bar atmosphere to the heart of Reading. The establishment aims to cater to diverse tastes, providing a vibrant space where patrons can savor authentic Mexican dishes while enjoying the thrill of sports entertainment.
Owner Maria Aguilar, driven by a dream to create a charming local restaurant, shares, “I had a dream to open a family-friendly restaurant, where mothers can come enjoy a meal with their family at a place with a nice atmosphere.”
Aguilar draws inspiration from her kids, aiming to recreate the warmth of home-cooked meals. In her words, “I was inspired by my kids. The times we would go out to eat, they would ask to eat at home because they thought the food was better. Using fresh ingredients to make authentic meals, made from scratch, is important to us, just like it was cooked at home.”
Business partners Maria Aguilar and Pablo Lopez are not only opening the doors of Xolo Itzcuintle Mexican Restaurant and Sports Bar but also stepping into the shoes of the building’s previous owner. Having purchased the property, Aguilar and Lopez are continuing the legacy of the previous proprietor, who ran a restaurant at the location for an impressive 45 years. The acquisition not only included the building but also the restaurant equipment within, providing Aguilar and Lopez with a unique opportunity to realize their dreams.
Xolo Itzcuintle is poised to become more than a culinary hotspot; it is a testament to Aguilar’s commitment to providing a welcoming space where families can relish authentic Mexican cuisine made with care and attention to detail.
Stopping in for lunch or dinner customers will find a diverse menu showcasing authentic flavors. Among the House Specials, the Chilaquiles Xolos stand out—an enticing dish featuring tortillas fritas in green or red sauce, complemented by a choice of meat, chorizo, Cecina, pastor meat, steak, fried eggs, and accoutrements like lettuce, sour cream, queso fresco, rice, and beans.
For those seeking a carnivorous feast, the Parrillada Mexicana beckons. This culinary masterpiece includes carne asada, pollo asado, chorizo, carne adobada, accompanied by rice, beans, and tortillas hechas a mano.
Xolo Itzcuintle’s main menu boasts a tempting array of Street Tacos, Burritos, Quesadillas, and Tortas, promising a delightful journey through Mexican street food flavors. And for a sweet finale, indulge in the Chocolate Tuxedo Mousse Cake, a decadent dessert that promises to be the perfect conclusion to your meal.
Aguilar envisions Xolo Itzcuintle as more than a restaurant, but a welcoming space, adding a fresh and vibrant dimension to the city’s culinary and entertainment landscape. The combination of delectable Mexican flavors and an inviting sports bar ambiance is poised to make Xolo Itzcuintle a go-to destination for locals and visitors alike.
