Penn State Health Redirects Drive-thru COVID-19 Testing to New Locations

Penn State Health St. Joseph will redirect COVID-19 testing from its drive-thru location at 2493 MacArthur Road, Bern Township, beginning Wednesday, April 21, to two urgent care sites and its Downtown Campus.

The alternate testing sites are located in Berks are two urgent care facilities and the downtown campus. All will offer expanded hours of operation and patients will remain in their cars for testing.

Testing will now be available at the St. Joseph Urgent Care in Maidencreek Township at 108 Plaza Drive, Suite 101. hours are Monday-Friday, 1-7 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. (Weekend hours begin Saturday, May 1)

Testing will also be available at St. Joseph Urgent Care in Strausstown, 44 East Ave.
Hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. (Weekend hours begin Saturday, May 1)

In addition, Penn State Health St. Joseph will offer testing at its downtown campus, 145 N. 6th Street in Reading. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 1-4 p.m.

Patients who have been evaluated and given an order by a provider are eligible. No appointment is needed. Patients must present their doctor’s order, photo identification and insurance card, if applicable.

Penn State Health recommends that anyone with concerns that they may have COVID-19 call their provider or the Pennsylvania Department of Health at 1-877-PA-HEALTH, before going to a clinic, urgent care center or emergency department.
