After a successful smaller event in 2024, the Berks Book Bonanza will return this summer with its first full five-day sale since 2021. The annual fundraiser will run from Wednesday, July 9, through Sunday, July 13, at the County of Berks South Campus, 400 E. Wyomissing Avenue in Mohnton.
This year marks the second time the event will be held at the South Campus location, and organizers say they are eager to build on last year’s momentum.
“We were thrilled to generate $40,000 in proceeds last year that went directly to two local organizations,” said Judy Ellsworth, vice president of Berks Book Bonanza. “Now that we have a full year of experience at our new home, we’re ready to open our doors for the full five days once again.”
The sale features thousands of gently-used books along with DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, puzzles, and other items. Most general items will be priced at $2 or less, with collectible and specialty materials marked individually.
The schedule for the 2025 sale is as follows:
- Wednesday, July 9 – 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Early Bird Admission: $20)
- Thursday, July 10 – 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday, July 11 – 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, July 12 – 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Sunday, July 13 – Noon to 4:00 p.m. ($5 bag sale)
Volunteers will restock items throughout the event. A holding area will be available on Wednesday, though shoppers should note that carts are not permitted inside. Assistance will be provided for large orders.
The sale is cash or check only, and identification is required for all check purchases. No ATMs will be available on site. Attendees are asked to use the entrance behind the building near the covered ramp.
All items are donated by members of the community, with proceeds benefiting the Friends of Berks County Public Libraries and the Reading Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The funds support local libraries and scholarships for women in the area.
