Blue Marsh Lake Open for Memorial Day Weekend with New Traffic Pattern

The Dry Brooks Day Use Area at Blue Marsh Lake will reopen on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Visitors should be aware that a new traffic pattern will be in place. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have implemented changes to the traffic flow pattern at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area Parking Lot F Area near the Swim Beach.

Traffic direction within Lower and Upper F parking lots will be changing from two-way traffic to one way only traffic. This will improve the traffic flow, reduce congestion, increase pedestrian safety, and the overall visitor experience in the heavily used area.

Memorial Day Weekend Activities Park Rangers are expecting large crowds this weekend as folks head out to the lake to start the summer season.

Be prepared by arriving early, as parking will become very limited as the day progresses.

Park Rangers also want to remind the public about safety at the lake, including: Maintaining social distancing from those outside of your family group, wearing a mask whenever entering a building, practicing safe boating and water activities, food safety, and grill use, and keeping an eye on children.

Also, fireworks and alcohol are strictly prohibited, and pets are not allowed in the picnic areas below Parking Lot F around the Swim Beach and Concession Stand.

The staff at Blue Marsh Lake want to make sure everyone has a fun and safe weekend on and around the water. They are encouraging visitors to bring life jackets for everyone in their party.

In addition, the Life Jacket Loaner Program will be in operation this year. Visitors can borrow a life jacket for use during their visit.

Life jackets are to be returned at the end of the day. Life jackets will be available at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area, Dry Brooks Boat Launch, and State Hill Boat Launch on a first-come first-serve basis to make sure
boaters and swimmers are using the correct sized U.S. Coast Guard Approved Flotations Devices.
