Holben has been a police officer in West Reading for 21 years. In that time, Holben says he served as a motorcycle patrol officer, K9 officer for 2 years, evidence technician, field training officer, and a criminal investigator.

Holben is enthusiastic about the new position. “I want to make sure the police and community are aligned. I view the police department as a neighbor” said Holben.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the officers and make West Reading safe, a place to live, work and play. Nothing gives me more pleasure than driving around the Borough, up and down Penn Avenue, watching people enjoying themselves. When you see that, you know you’re doing your job.”

Mayor Samantha Kaag shared, “He was the best choice for stability within West Reading and I am so excited to see what he brings to the position and leadership. I think I can speak for all of council when I say we are all very excited. He knows West Reading and is dedicated to being here.”
