Congresswoman Houlahan’s office seeks local veteran or Gold Star family member for full-time fellowship in Reading

U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan’s office is now accepting applications for a full-time Green and Gold Fellow to join her Reading-based district team. The two-year, paid fellowship is open to qualified veterans and Gold Star family members, offering an opportunity to serve the community as a Constituent Advocate.

The position will be based out of the congresswoman’s satellite office in Reading and is part of the Green and Gold Congressional Aide Program. The program is designed specifically for veterans who have been honorably discharged within the past six years and held pay grades at or below E-5, O-3, or W-2. Gold Star applicants must be immediate family members of a service member who died in the line of duty or from a service-connected disability within four years of separating from the military.

The selected fellow will serve as a liaison between residents of Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District and federal government agencies. Responsibilities include helping individuals, businesses, and nonprofits navigate federal casework issues, attending community events on behalf of the congresswoman, and identifying local concerns that may benefit from federal action.

The role pays between $55,000 and $67,000 annually and is structured as a full-time position over the course of two years. The office operates Monday through Friday, with Reading-based staff working in-person from Wednesday to Friday and remotely or in the field earlier in the week. Evening and weekend availability for events is also expected.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in public service, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Spanish language proficiency and local ties to the 6th District are preferred, and reliable transportation is required.
