A domestic disturbance incident involving a man who barricaded himself in a Spring Township home ended peacefully Friday mid-day, after a lengthy standoff with Police.
The incident began Friday morning when Spring Township Police responded a residence on Wyoming Drive for a domestic disturbance.
Several articles of clothing and personal items could be seen littered throughout the lawn in front of the townhouse. Police called in the Berks County Emergency Response Team and a psychologist to the scene to de-escalate the situation.
The heavy Police presence in the area prompted the temporary lockdown of two Wilson School District buildings, Cornwall Terrace Elementary and Wilson Southern Middle School, as a safety precaution.
Following a lengthy standoff and negotiation, the SWAT team entered the home after deploying a taser through an open door. A woman and kids were seen being taken out of the home during the raid. Police placed the man in custody. He was later transported to the hospital.
Shortly after, the lock down of both schools were lifted. Police continue to investigate the situation. Additional details were not immediately available.
