State Police investigating attempted burglary in Centre Township, seek help identifying suspects

Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg are investigating an attempted burglary incident that occurred in the 111 Garfield Road in Centre Township on April 21, 2024 between the hours of 4:11 and 4:18am.

According to a public information release report, suspect 1 and suspect 2 drove in separate vehicles to the scene, parking alongside a barn on the property of 224 Garfield Road. The vehicles were observed pulling alongside the barn on 04/21/24 at approximately 0411 hours.

Police say they arrived in what appears to be a white Honda Odyssey minivan and a white with gray trim Dodge 1500 pickup truck. Suspect 1 exited the white minivan. He appeared to be thin and was wearing what appeared to be a light gray hooded sweatshirt. The sweatshirt was zipped and the hood was lifted over Suspect 1’s head. He also was wearing a black mask which appeared to be covering the bottom 1/2 of his face.

Suspect 1 was also wearing what appeared to be light-gray sweatpants and sneakers. He also appeared to be wearing gloves at the time.  Suspect 2 arrived in what appeared to be an older model white Dodge Ram pickup truck. The vehicle had gray trim along the bottom of the vehicle. 

Suspect 2 appeared to be wearing a dark jacket.  Underneath the jacket Suspect 2 appeared to be wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood lifted over Suspect 2’s head. Suspect 2 also had what appeared to be a gray mask which covered the lower 1/2 of his face. Suspect 2 had light gray pants on and dark sneakers. Suspect 2 was shorter than Suspect 1 and was slightly heavy-set. Suspect 2 had his hands in his jacket pocket and he appeared to be more of a lookout.

Both Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 walked to 111 Garfield Road. They were observed walking up to the detached garage and surveillance shows that Suspect 1 was carrying some type of prybar. 

They walked up to the double-hung entry door and Suspect 1 was observed prying between the doors at the lock and latch. Suspect 1 failed to make entry into the garage. Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 were then observed walking to a side window of the garage which was on the north side of the garage.

Suspect 1 was observed via surveillance using the prybar to pry at the window. As this occurred, the Victim received motion notifications on his phone. Upon observing Suspect 1 and Suspect 2, he yelled out from his roof. Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 then ran from the scene towards their vehicles. They entered their vehicles and then were observed fleeing west on Garfield Road.
