Reading Ecology Club Students Plant Trees to Offset School Paper Consumption

On Saturday morning over 30 Ecology Club students from Reading Senior High School set out into the city to plant saplings in the yards of residents in the community.

By planting trees in the community, students hope to offset the school’s paper consumption during the academic year. Students and community volunteers broke out into group to visit several sites and plant saplings, and learn about local sustainability.

To host the event, the club partnered with the non-profit Tree-Plenish and Reading Beautification.

In addition to planting trees in the community, the club also sold over 340 saplings in a drive thru event held at Reading High School.
