Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County (BCSS) has named Marin Krause as the 2024 recipient of the Director’s Scholarship. The BCSS Director’s Scholarship is awarded annually to an individual who will major in the healthcare field.
The BCSS Director’s Scholarship began in 2022 when the members of the Board of Directors determined that they wanted a portion of the annual Board campaign to support a Berks County student that would be attending a technical school, nursing school, or college/university or graduate studies in the healthcare field.
The student is asked to submit an essay answering one of the following questions; tell us about someone who has made an impact in your life and how that will influence your career path in healthcare, or if you could live your life fighting for one cause to serve your community, what would it be and why.
Krause graduated from Daniel Boone Area High School this year and will attend the University of Pittsburgh this fall, majoring in nursing. Her personal experiences have influenced and motivated her to want a career in nursing.
“I want to be a nurse to help save mothers like mine. Cancer broke my heart, but in my mother’s strength, I was made stronger. She has inspired me in her patience and compassion to spend my life serving others” said Krause.
The BCSS Board of Directors review committee selected Marin Krause to receive the annual Director’s Scholarship for $500. “Congratulations Marin. We wish you success in your future endeavors” noted the board.
