Record-breaking scholarship ceremony held at The Highlands at Wyomissing

Berks County senior living community honors the highest number of recipients since fund’s inception for Employee Education Funding program.

The Highlands at Wyomissing, a non-profit Life Care Community in Berks County, recently awarded $60,000 in scholarships to 20 student employees furthering their education. The scholarship ceremony took place on campus in early June, honoring students working in the Health and Dining Services department.

A resident-driven initiative, the scholarships were awarded to staff members attending college or furthering their education through licenses or certifications. The committee reviews every application, conducts interviews and assesses each applicant’s career aspirations.

Since its launch in 2019, the fund has awarded more than $90,000 to qualifying applicants. This year alone, more than $60,000 was raised to continue the initiative, further demonstrating the strength and impact of the program.

“We are deeply grateful to the residents, staff and friends of The Highlands, whose generosity is transforming the lives of our team members as they pursue their educational journeys,” said Kevin DeAcosta, President and CEO of The Highlands at Wyomissing. “These scholarships reflect our commitment to supporting our staff members while nurturing tomorrow’s workforce.”
