Fire destroys garage, damages home in Earl Township; investigation ongoing

A fire that broke out late Monday afternoon in Earl Township caused significant damage to a home and detached garage, with losses estimated at $150,000, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Emergency crews responded to the fire at 12 Long Lane Road around 4:42 p.m. after the Berks County 911 Center received reports of a house fire, possibly with people still inside. However, upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated.

Flames had engulfed the detached garage and spread to the rear of the house by the time crews arrived. Firefighters from the Earl Township Fire Company and mutual aid departments worked to bring the blaze under control within an hour.

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop L Fire Marshal Unit is investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in or around the detached garage. No injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and the investigation remains ongoing.
