At the end of July the Berks Cares Vaccine Center officially closed its doors in Muhlenberg Township due to a declining demand of the vaccines. Coupled with an abundant number of smaller sites available throughout the county, Berks Commissioner made said it made financial sense to stop operations of the mass vaccination center.
To continue the County’s vaccine effort, the Berks Community Health Center will collaborate with the County, Co-County Wellness and other partners ensure vaccines continue to be available locally.
“The Vaccine Center provided COVID vaccinations at a time when community members were looking for opportunities and in a way that made it very accessible for our residents”, says Lindsey Miller, Chief Operating Officer of BCHC. “We thank the County for their confidence in us to help provide this important service.”
BCHC is committed to continuing to offer the vaccines through other means, including pop up clinics at some of their four locations, as well as other opportunities being developed.
“Our mission is to improve access and the health of our community. Continuing as a resource in our community for COVID testing, vaccinations, and education will remain a priority” says Miller. Residents are encouraged to visit BCHC’s website at www.berkschc.net/coronavirus for information on vaccine opportunities.
