In March 2023, the Berks County Commissioners released a study exploring options for strengthening the local public health infrastructure. The study listed four recommendations:
Create a Berks County Health Director position
Establish a Public Health Advisory Panel. Support the establishment of a “Healthy Berks” Coalition. Create a Berks County Health Data Analyst position
The report and its recommendations have received nearly unanimous praise and support from the region’s medical community and voices representing a wide range of public responsibilities.
As the commissioners prepare for a decision on the study, the Berks County Medical Society’s will host a virtual lunch and learn conversation on March 6th, 2024.
“The goal of the lunch and learn is to discuss the report and how the county’s leadership on these four recommendations would ensure that public health efforts are tailored to the needs of Berks County’s rural, suburban, and urban residents,” Cindy Milian, Health and Human Services program officer said.
This event is supported through the Community General Hospital Healthcare Fund of Berks County Community Foundation.
Registration is now open for the virtual lunch and learn. You can save your virtual seat by clicking here.
