Met-Ed Investigates Power Outage in Exeter Township

A power outage was reported in the Lorane section of Exeter Township Friday night.

Beginning around 9:30pm, several neighborhoods and businesses experienced power issues, including the Exeter Commons Shopping Plaza.

Several traffic lights on 422 were also impacted for a brief time, causing motorists to navigate the intersections in the dark.

Early estimates indicate up to 1,500 lost power. Investigating the outage, Met-Ed trucks could be seen driving the streets pointing spot lights on power lines and transformers.

Exeter residents took to social media to discuss the outage, with one person noting he saw a large flash of light come from a transformer at the intersection of Gibraltar Road and Ryan Street.

As of 12:30am, Met-Ed now estimates up to 500 without power, with the latest estimated restoration time at 2:30am.
