A primary care practice that serves patients on the first floor of the Penn State Health St. Joseph Downtown Campus, 146 North 6th Street, Reading, is moving upstairs – to a larger, fully renovated space.
Penn State Health Family and Community Medicine offers a range of primary care services at the Reading location, including family medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and geriatrics. The practice is staffed by four attending physicians, 19 resident physicians and a team of nurses and medical assistants.
The new, much larger space on the second floor features 19 exam rooms, including two that can be used for minor procedures such as joint injections, biopsies and osteopathic manipulative treatment. It features a more open layout than the current clinic which will lead to an overall better visit experience, including a smoother registration process.
The new clinic also provides more mixed-use space for community health initiatives run by Penn State Health residents. They include Veggie Rx, a program through which patients with chronic obesity and diabetes are offered vouchers as a way to improve their access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
The clinic will move on Wednesday, March 1, and reopen to patients on Thursday, March 2.

The Penn State Health St. Joseph Downtown Campus also includes a separate obstetrics-gynecology and pediatrics practice and a physical therapy practice. Other services offered include laboratory, pharmacy, dental and x-ray, mammography and ultrasound.
