Lauren Marks, a respected attorney with deep ties to the Berks County community, has officially announced her candidacy for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.
Marks is a registered Republican who plans to cross-file for both the Republican and Democrat nominations in the May 20th Primary election.
With an extensive legal career that includes broad-based civil, criminal, and family law experience, Lauren has the unique distinction of having practiced in every division of the Berks County Court of Common Pleas. This background and experience have provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the judicial system that has prepared her to serve residents immediately.
Civil and Family Law cases made up a large portion of the county court’s workload, and Lauren is already entrusted by the court to handle many of these types of cases. Whether running her own law firm or serving as a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem, she has a well-earned reputation for protecting children, defending the Constitutional Rights and upholding the values of the community. She is poised to bring a conservative approach to the bench, emphasizing law and order and impartial and ethical decisions.
“We need experienced, ethical, and impartial judges who are committed to following the law and the constitution, protecting our families and children, and defending the strong community values county residents believe in,” Marks said. “As our next judge, I am committed to doing just that.”
Lauren graduated from Penn State University before earning her law degree from Duquesne University Kline School of Law, where she was honored with the International Trial Advocacy Award. Prior to serving in the Berks County Public Defender’s office where she focused on criminal law and juvenile defendants with a goal of rehabilitation to help them become successful members of the community, she clerked for a county court judge handling criminal, civil, and juvenile court cases. Lauren also ran her own law firm before merging and becoming a partner at Palange, Endres and Marks, PC where she works today.
“When it comes to protecting the rights of children and our families, no one fights harder than I do,” said Marks. “As a longtime member of our community, I have seen firsthand the devastating effects domestic violence and broken families have on our society and legal system and will bring this experience to the bench. As judge, I will have no tolerance for criminals who do harm to children and the most vulnerable in our society.”
As a result of her extensive experience, Lauren has chaired the Family Law Section of the Berks County Bar Association twice. She has also served as a Board Member for the Berk County Bar Association for the last three years. Lauren frequently provides lectures for continuing legal education classes for the Berks County legal community.
Community service and leadership are very important to Lauren. Beyond her legal career, she is very involved in serving others. She served on the board of the YMCA and is actively involved with the Rally for Ryder cause that supports pediatric cancer awareness. Lauren was also an elected auditor for Lower Heidelberg Township where she worked to ensure financial responsibility and transparency for taxpayers.
“As a full-time practicing attorney, I know residents want a court that is ethical beyond reproach,” said Marks. “As a fiscal conservative and trusted township auditor, I also understand taxpayers want our court to run in an effective and time-efficient manner. As judge, I am committed to providing justice that is always respectful of your time and of your tax dollars.”
While Lauren is a hardworking member of the legal community, her greatest accomplishment is her family, who are also dedicated to Berks County. Lauren’s husband, Chad, a lifelong Berks County resident and graduate of Wilson School District, is a Sergeant with the West Reading Police Department. He is an active member of the Berks County Emergency Response Team as a hostage negotiator and serves as an instructor at the Reading Police Academy.
Lauren and Chad have four children they are very proud of. Lauren’s stepdaughter, Alexis, is a student of nursing at the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences. She is also an EMT for Western Berks Ambulance. Her stepson, Trevor, is a senior at Wilson High School and has recently been accepted to attend Duquesne University in the fall of 2025. Lauren and Chad’s children Wyatt and Teagan attend elementary school at Wilson. The family is actively involved in sports, including football, baseball, and cheerleading, and with the Home and School Association.
“Berks County deserves a judge who understands our community, upholds the rule of law, and champions our values,” said Marks. “I am very passionate about helping the community, particularly children, and I am committed to serving with integrity, fairness, and a focus on the future of our county.”
Lauren invites the community to join her campaign and support her vision for a justice system that focuses on the conservative principles of accountability, family, and community service.
