The gateway into West Reading is set to receive a makeover as improvements begin on a prominent railroad bridge in the borough.
According to the Borough of West Reading, the Norfolk Southern railroad bridge located at Penn Avenue and Second Avenue will be power-washed and repainted beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

Officials said motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone. Lane closures and delays are expected from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, in both directions along Penn Avenue.
The project is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Funding for the work is being provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority Local Share Account grant program.
