Reading Mayor Eddie Morán distributed hundreds of toys to children Thursday afternoon at the DoubleTree Hotel in Reading, celebrating Three Kings Day.
Three Kings Day, also referred to as “Día de los Reyes Magos,” is on January 6. Heavily celebrated in Spain, Latin America and parts of Europe, Three Kings Day falls on the 12th day of Christmas.
The holiday commemorates the three wise men who traveled from afar bearing gifts for baby Jesus.
The 3nd annual event by the Mayor Morán distributed toys to children ages infant to 14 years over the course of a few hours.
“Three Kings Day is a tradition that my family celebrated throughout my childhood,” said Mayor Moran. “It is a special celebration that brings me joy to share with the children in our community.”
Partnering organizations included the Reading Recreation Commission Customers Bank, Savage 61, DoubleTree Hotel, Matos Towing and Daily Dove Home Care.
