Reading’s ‘Dumpster Day’ returns this Saturday for city-wide clean-up

The City of Reading has announced the return of Dumpster Day, a city-wide residential clean-out event scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This initiative is designed to support community-wide clean-up efforts, providing residents with an opportunity to declutter their homes and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment.

Dumpster Day will feature six convenient locations across Reading where residents can dispose of bulky items they no longer need. The designated drop-off sites are Baer Park, Reading Iron Playground, 2nd & Walnut Street, Hampden Boulevard & Perry, Artifacts Bank, and West Oley & McKnight Street.

The goal is to make it easier for people to get rid of large, unwanted items and help improve the overall cleanliness of neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free event to clean out garages, basements, and attics. However, it’s important to note that certain items will not be accepted at any of the locations. Prohibited items include tires, used oil, household chemicals, paint, televisions, and appliances.

For more information about the event, residents can contact Ryan Bradley, Clean City Coordinator, via email at Ryan.Bradley@ReadingPA.gov or by phone at 484-509-7230.
